May Cocktail

It’s time for the Drink of the Month! With longer days and warmer weather nothing seems to go hand in hand with the onset of Spring like a deliciously citrus forward cocktail. In our latest concoction, we combined the refreshing flavors of lemons and grapefruit with a little something less delicate, grappa! Like whiskey and gin, though less familiar, grappa is a distilled spirit created from the grape seeds and skins leftover in wine-making. The flavor profiles of both the grapefruit and grappa allow for a harmoniously bitter backdrop against a healthy splash of pineapple juice. We at Rooted Pear have a love-hate relationship with pineapple juice. We adore its friendly nature in cocktails but we try to use it sparingly as the aromatic fruit tends to take over all its competitors. But with a couple of modifications to our drink of May we found the perfect blend of “fruity frills” and “manly muscles” and what better pairing than that? Now add an egg white for body and voila- another successful day in the Rooted Pear kitchen. Cheers!
