With the fall season upon us, Rooted Pear is slated to appear twice at the Montclair, NJ local farmer’s market where we can hand out small bites that represent our style. The menu all planned and ready to go, all that remained was to tackle our presentation. We decided that such delicious bites needed a proper setting where they can be served from, so an idea for a custom booth began to take shape. Since this booth needs to be brought easily to the site, the solution was to design and build a table that will be collapsible and simply put together. As so often happens with construction and design – anything that is meant to appear easy and quick actually takes a lot of planning on the backend. Multiple design drafts later, we were ready to choose our materials. We went for a beautiful coffeenut wood for the table top. Sanded to a smooth and silky texture, and finished with just a natural coat of oil, we cannot get enough of this unique wood grain! The side panels are all made of pine since it's such a light wood that is ideal for transportation. And so, after hours spent in the workshop, and what seems like pints of sawdust embedded in our clothes, what we have is a beautiful booth or bar that can fit in the trunk of a car; and yet, it can be built to stand in a matter of minutes. Check out our video to see how it all comes together!
