Rooted Pear had the pleasure of partaking in the Montclair Farmer’s Market this fall, and what a pleasure it was! With unseasonably warm weather, the Saturday morning market-goers were nothing short of abundant and lively. Our debut shift was a bit nerve-wracking. We were the newbies on the block and we wanted nothing more than to fit in, but we quickly learned that we wouldn’t and that wasn’t such a bad thing. Several of the seasoned vendors made their way over to our booth with bounties of their trade in hand. They offered a warm welcome and a quick introduction before dispersing as the market got underway. As the patrons filed in, our booth began to stir a buzz, and by noon we had a small crowd gathered around our stand. We offered cold spiced apple cider and hot Vietnamese coffee. Our morning sample consisted of sticky buns and bacon biscuits while our afternoon fares were a bit more savory with our 5-spiced brisket sandwiches and a harvest chicken salad. The Rooted Pear booth was the talk of the market, or so we heard! There was a common thought amongst vendors and visitors - the newbies on the block were a smash hit! Our food was not only on point, but our beautiful décor was a major draw met with appreciation and praise. As newcomers, we were worried that our custom-built counter, fresh fall florals, and snazzy tablescape would all be too dramatic for a typical farmer’s market but it turns out we had just the right touch. Our beautiful and delicious display was an unexpected surprise in the best way! Not bad for a couple of rookies.
